I bought this set for my two kids (ages 5 & 3) who are just getting interested in our wii. I chose this particular game because they really love to play the pirate shooting arcade game at Chuck E. Cheese and because this game is cheap and includes a gun.First thing I like...a shooting game with no blood and no bullets. You are fighting an semi-aggressive mob of robot enemies with Nerf guns using an array of foam darts. Also, you don't control where the characters move. The game does this for you so the kids can play without help and not get stuck in a corner somewhere in the game because they aren't able to navigate a video game world. As for the weapons selection, you collect 'canisters' throught the game which are used to purchase accessories and upgrades for your character's Nerf guns. There are plenty of weapons options (even customize the colors of your Nerf guns...my girl liked this, of course) for the kids to play with. You should know the game is short, but I think this worked out well for us because the kids beat the game and felt accomplishment instead of frustration. Plus, they wanted to play all the levels again to collect more canisters (ie points) to "buy" more accessories for the Nerf guns.My husband and I even enjoyed playing this game with just the two of us. The only thing I think could make this better is if it was a 4 player game instead of just two players. There are four characters to choose from but only two can play at a time. I'm assuming it's because they would have had to use split screen for four players to fit and maybe that was out of their budget. At any rate, I would highly recommend this to novice game players. Its a very fun, if short, game.Compared to more mature games like Fallout 3, it is boring, but it isn't for mature players. This game is for the young player not yet sophisticated enough for complex strategies and unstructured game play. As others have eluded, it is an appropriate first person shooter for younger players.Easy and forgiving enough for the gamer who is thrilled to just shoot at things, yet offers the possibilities of expanding weapons options and increasing difficulty level. This games excels at introducing the young mind to typical game interaction strategies while keeping it fun because it doesn't withhold fun when you can't (or don't) figure the next step. The Nerf gun controller is particularly ingenious. The dart firing portion is a removable component which is replaced with the Wii controller for game play so the possibility of Nerf darts launching towards your television screen is no greater than exists if you have Nerf guns in your home already. The game can be played without the included Nerf gun, but it enhances the game experience for the younger players. I was glad I bought an additional gun to enjoy the game with my young'un and it prevents hurt feelings when he plays with friends since they both get the same controllers and experience.Bottom line: it was worth the coin. When I bought this as a gift for my 9 year old Nerf fan son, I thought the game would be the big draw and the Nerf blaster a bonus, but it turned out to be the other way around. The game is fun and we've all enjoyed playing it, but it is pretty short. My son finished it in a few hours. It does have a good amount of replay value, and it takes a while to unlock all of the bonus game blasters, but I can see how some kids might get tired of it quickly. The blaster, which can double as a game controller, is a lot of fun. It has good range for a small blaster and has seen a lot of use. This is a fun toy package, as long as you know the pretty minor drawbacks going in.I was very excited about buying this game, when I opened it and inserted the game I was compelled by it for 15 minutes. After that, I haven't played the game since. From the ads that I have seen I was under the impression it would be a great game and continuous fun, but I was proven wrong. I am very thankful I did not pay nearly the full retail price for the product because I would be very upset. It's not the worst game I've ever played but definitely gets boring quick. When purchasing, make sure you read all the reviews and judge for yourself if this game will fit you. Some people may like it and some may not. My suggestion is to rent the game first before purchasing and then decide if you wish to buy it.I bought this Nerf N-Strike Elite Bundle from Amazon for half the price $19.99 than Walmart $39.99 back in March 2010.My 10 year old son loves this game and although I read the other reviews of issues with the "gun" controller, he said he had no problems using it! The first week he played the game, he was able to get through about 4 levels and I do agree that the game needs to increase the options and game play to keep the user interested. Overall, I give this game a 4.I got this for Christmas for my 5 year old son. He has been playing this game non-stop! I love that there is a non-violent shooting game out there. He quickly realized that the gun shoots only nerf darts and thought that was pretty cool. I also like that the game only shoots at robots who are shooting nerf darts at you, there is no shooting at other people. My son really have loved playing this game and even though we have beat it on the easy setting he still goes back and plays the levels over and over again. Super fun game! Oh! and for those who don't want to listen to the talking portions you can hit "A" on the Wii remote and it will skip that. Happy shooting! My 13 year old really liked this game, however, he moved thru it quite quickly. He uses the nerf gun with some of the other nerf gunsthat he has acquired and not necessarily with the video game. We especially like that it is a "shooting game", but he is not shooting other people, but just machines/robots.I would definitely recommend it for 10-13 yr olds. But because we found it for such a good price on Amazon, we figured it was worth it, even if he outgrew it quickly.
