Simply install the driver, plug the GigaLinq into a USB 3.0 port, connect the Ethernet cable from your network router or hub and you're done. Now you can access the Internet or anything else on your network at blazing fast speed. Portable Ethernet Network Access The GigaLinq is super compact and easily fits into any computer bag, briefcase or backpack for use on-the-go. Now your hotel's lack of Wi-Fi no longer means lack of Internet access. For corporate or office environments that require a hardwired Ethernet connection, the GigaLinq provides a fast and easy way to connect your computer to any 10/100/1000BASE-T network. Works with Chromebook Chromebook users no longer have to rely on a Wi-Fi connection to keep them online. Plug any wired Ethernet connection into IOGEAR's USB 3.0 GigaLinq Ethernet Adapter and then plug it directly into a USB port on Chromebook. That's it! No driver installation needed, just plug and play!

Initially seemed to be a great product. (See updates below.) Wish I had been able to find it while traveling in France last year when my laptop's RJ45 port died -- none of the shops I visited in Paris carried them. (For that matter, I haven't seen any in stock in local brick-and-mortars in the US either.)I originally shied away from purchasing this device out of worry that it would slow down network transmissions speeds from the internet. But if it HAS had any effect on transmissions speeds, I haven't been able to notice that at all, even with streaming Youtube and Netflix. The only thing more I could ask for would be a slightly lower price.UPDATE: The device failed 12 months after I purchased it. I had used it daily leading up to the failure. I suspect there was some kind of electrical fault, as it would get very hot during use.I notified the manufacturer that it had stopped working, and they replaced it under the warranty without any complaint. However, I had to pay the charge for shipping the faulty device back for the replacement, which makes the original purchase less of a good value, so I am re-rating it from 5-stars down to 3-stars.UPDATE 2: A week later (since my previous update) and the replacement unit has now also died. If you're willing to accept getting only a year of use out of this item for the purchase price, it may be a reasonable buy. But given that it's warranteed for 3 years (in the US anyway), other vendors' alternatives may be a better buy.
